DIY super simple wooden wick candles

I jumped into candle-making last year after trying to cut costs in a couple different areas of my budget. I love candles and the cozy feeling it creates in my home - my hygge!

Here’s how I make a wooden wick candle in about 15 minutes!

Supplies:
- empty candle container (For this DIY, I am re-using an old one. I scraped out the old wax with a spoon.)
- candle wax (I chose soy wax)
- wooden wicks
- a popsicle stick
- hot glue (this is what I usually use a recommend, but at the time our hot glue is packed away and I used glitter glue. I would not recommend this though, as the glue needs to be completely dry before pouring the candle wax in.)
- candle fragrance (I purchased mine from Nature’s Oil)

Instructions:

  • Place the wooden wick in the candle holder. My wooden wick set came with the wicks and separate metal parts that need to be attached together before hot gluing it to the bottom of the candle holder.

  • I created a double boiler on my stove by filling a pot about 3/4ths full of water and then placing a 2-cup measuring cup inside. This is where the wax will be melted. I guesstimated how much wax I would need and put it in the measuring cup while the water was heating up. I used the popsicle stick to stir the wax to help it melt evenly.

  • Once the wax is completely melted, I removed the measuring cup from the double boiler and added 5-7 drops of fragrance. I personally like my candles lightly scented, so if you like a heavier scented candle, I would add a couple more drops.

  • Pour the hot wax into the candle holder. And that’s it! Wait 24-48 hours before lighting your candle. Enjoy!
